About Pastor Rod Church

Having been brought up in South London, Pastor Rod joined the police force and served for seventeen years in London’s Metropolitan Police and Sussex Police before leaving the service and going into the ministry. After ordination, he served two Congregational Churches, Walkden near Manchester and from 1985 – 1990 here at Park Congregational Church. After the death of his first wife in 1988, he married Myrtle, his present wife who was a member of our congregational. In the summer of 1990 they answered the call to serve the Congregational Churches in the USA. There Rod became the pastor of churches in Pomfret Connecticut; McCook Nebraska; and Bound Brook New Jersey until 2007. It was during this year that Park CC was seeking a minister and upon hearing that Rod was returning to the UK, extended a call for him to return as their minister.

Pastor Rod received his ministerial training through the Congregational Federation and furthered that education in the US through one of the top evangelical seminaries in that country, Gordon Conwell Theological Seminary in Massachusetts.

He and Myrtle have three children, five grandchildren, and three great grandchildren. Pastor Rod interests outside the ministry are popular music of the 1960 – 1970s, history, mystery novels, and digital photography.
