The “Gospel” means the “good news” that God has for each and everyone no matter what color, class, position, personality they are. That of course includes you! God created you and wants to have a relationship with you – yes you! However there is a problem. Let me explain it to you.
Point One. The Bible (God’s spoken words written) tells us that in all of mankind there are actions or attitudes that fall short of Gods’ perfect standard. What are some of these actions or attitudes? Well pride, greed, hatred, selfishness, telling lies are a few that we can all relate to. The bible calls these “sins”. Yes everyone has this problem – as the Bible puts it…
Romans 3:23 - For all have sinned; all fall short of God's glorious standard.
The consequence of this sin is that it separates us from God because God is holy and can have nothing to do with that which is not. Its like oil and water – they don’t mix
Habakkuk 1:13 tells us “(God), who cannot allow sin in any form …”
In fact God’s Word tells us that the end result of sin in our lives is death…
Romans 6:23 “For the wages of sin is death…”
There is nothing that we ourselves can do to solve this problem because sin is part of our very nature.
Point Two. The “Good News” (Gospel) is that the Bible also tells us that there is a solution and that it can be found in the person of Jesus Christ…
Romans 6:23 - For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord.
It also tells us that God loved us so much that he sent Jesus, His only Son, to die in our place…
John 3:16 -"For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life”
Jesus paid the penalty of our sin so that we would not have to be forever separated from God
1 John 4:10 - This is real love. It is not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as a sacrifice to take away our sins.
God’s Word also tells us that Jesus is the only solution for our sin problem…
John 14:6 - Jesus told him, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me.
Point Three God’s Word demands a decision. It is not enough to just know about Jesus Christ and His death on the cross for you. You must choose to put your trust in Christ, to receive this free gift of salvation that God offers…
John 1:12 - But to all who believed him and accepted him, he gave the right to become children of God.
All of us have the problem of sin. There is only one solution to the problem - the person of Jesus Christ and His death on the cross for us. Every one of us must decide...
Point Four If you decide you would really like to experience a personal relationship with Jesus may I suggest you do this? Get on your knees and say the following prayer. These of course are my words but its alright to use your own. Have a picture in your imagination of kneeling before Jesus and looking up into his eyes.
Lord – I am sorry for the sin in my life, I am sorry I have been living my life with my greed, selfishness, pride, hatred, lies and my runaway tongue. I want to change. I want to give my life to you. I want to live my life as you would have me live it. I want you as my Lord, my king – king of my life. I commit my life to you, come into my life dear Jesus. – Amen
I will make you another promise and you can take this to the bank. If you pray this prayer, it will be answered, not tomorrow, not the next day, not the next week or year but straight away. He WILL come into your heart.
